The Excess Generation
Here in the USA, we are a people who enjoy many of the finer things in life. Unfortunately, some of these finer things can turn into excess. One good example is food. We love our food. We enjoy going out to fine restaurants, cooking up big meals at home, and even hitting the drive through for fast food. Yes we’re supposed to exercise to work off all these calories that we’re taking in. But most Americans neglect their excercise at times, if not all the time. And of course this leads to gaining weight. Then there are so many weight loss options out there. There are probably as many weight loss pills, fads and exercise machines as there are people in need of losing weight. So we have this billion dollar industry geared towards overweight people. How many of these things actually work? In my opinion probably less than 10%. After all if they worked would we see so many overweight people? So where does one turn for a proven method? Now it’s not up to me to make that recommendation. But as I sit here and ponder this topic, I can’t help but gorge myself on my beloved Doritos. I guess I’m part of the excess generation too.
